Much of my recent work centers on STORY as an effective tool for healing with women who are victims of trauma.\u00a0 In my experience, I have seen a unique type of transformation occur when a woman sees greater good come out of the harm that was done to her.\u00a0 And, without exception<\/strong>, every woman I work with wants to see her story help another woman.<\/p>\n

There is actually a neuroscience around storytelling. As described by Lissa Rankin, MD: \u201cEvery time you tell your story and someone else who cares bears witness to it, you turn off the body\u2019s responses, flipping off toxic stress hormones like cortisol and epinephrine and flipping on relaxation responses that release healing hormones like oxytocin, dopamine, nitric oxide, and endorphins.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

At Story Matters<\/strong><\/em> I lean into sacred stories and draw from the Allender Methodology (www.allendercenter.org<\/a> ) which focuses on a process of naming our deep woundedness and deep goodness.<\/p>\n
